Apton Day Centre The Day Centre in Apton Road, Bishop’s Stortford is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 3pm for pensioners to have a place to meet, socialise and have a hot meal. Attendance at the centre can be for one day a week or for all four days. A small charge is made for refreshments and meals, and there is opportunity to take part in raffles, card and board games, dancing etc. The Centre also offers a service of chiropody and hairdressing, as well as summer outings and Christmas trips.
The Bishop’s Stortford Minibus, driven by a faithful band of volunteer drivers, will collect clients from any area of the Town after 9am and take them to the centre, returning from 3pm. Limited mobility and disability are not a barrier to taking trips on the bus. There is a nominal charge for the bus service.
It is imperative that the client should be registered with The Apton Centre before being able to take advantage of the Minibus service. Please contact the Centre direct on 01279 504748 for information and registration.
Shopping Trips With funding from the East Herts Council, it has been possible to put in place a regular shopping trip to a Supermarket and to the Town with plenty of time for shopping and stopping for refreshments before returning home. There are minimal charges for these services.
Clients who fulfil certain criteria will be collected from their own homes, taken on the bus and returned to their home later in the day. Timetables have yet to be put in place in discussion with registered clients.
Criteria for registration for this service are that the client is excluded from using public transport by means of disability or limited mobility, either physically or mentally. There is a nominal charge for a Carer who travels with the client.

Visits and Outings The Minibus Trust is setting up regular trips to local places such as Van Hage Garden Centre in Ware, or to other towns, such as Saffron Walden, Dunmow or Welwyn Garden City.
